I want to give an overview of my family by sharing this poem that I wrote... I'll have more about my family below.
My Favorite Place of All

People always say,
No matter where you go, “Home is where the heart is;” Though I can’t speak for others, I can speak for myself, And for me, my heart is definitely at home; Twenty-one years at house number five, All my life, the same house, Until a drastic move to a brand new state; Growing up, my family was always there, My mom and dad, My dogs and cats; My brothers and sisters too, I’m fortunate in this area, Nineteen in all (not counting me); Foster care, a simple thing, The reason for all those kids, Five are adopted, the family tree keeps expanding; Some hurt, some neglected, Some forgotten, some drugged, All had different needs, but all needed to be hugged; All these children wanting love, Happiness and joy given to all, In a family that's so unique and special; |
The names and the faces will always remain,
Long after the children have left the house, Long after saying goodbye to siblings fourteen times; Not all times are perfect, In fact, most times are chaotic, The flaws are what make every day wonderful; It gets really crazy in our house, No one can hear me speak, I don’t mind waiting (most of the time); Being the oldest, Needing to help out, Caring, and fighting, as siblings do; There’s a new house in a new state now, Growing up, we don’t all live at home still, There’s even a new son/grandson/nephew now; People and things come and go, So many memories, I cherish each one; My house, my home, My favorite place of all! |
My parents and me - 1993
Everything good that has happened in my life has been because of my parents. My mom and dad have always been so supportive of me and my siblings. They've shown me that love truly does conquer all and that family is the most important thing in life.
As I mentioned, I'm the oldest of six children. I have two brothers and three sisters.

My family has always been extremely close. I can't wait to see how my future children fit into the mix. I know that my brothers and sisters are extremely excited to welcome a niece into the family and teach her how to be a crazy, weird, awesome Krigsman. I'll have the day-to-day support of my parents and four of my siblings, who are each ready to jump in and help with anything that I'll need.
My brother and nephew - 2020
My 26-year-old brother lives in New York still. On Christmas morning, December 25, 2019, he gave us the best present ever when my nephew made his appearance in the world! Though it's difficult being so far away from the cutest little boy in the world, the photos and videos we receive are a constant source of joy.
Since sharing my adoption plans with my family, I have received nothing but love and support. My youngest sisters ask me on an almost daily basis when I'll be bringing their niece home because they can't wait to meet her and cuddle her. My parents and other siblings are excited about the idea of welcoming a new baby into the family and my parents and sisters are all ready and willing to help. I have dreams of my brother and nephew coming down to visit and bond with the baby as well!
I know that I have a ton of support and love as I journey into motherhood. My future children will be loved so much by their aunts, uncles, and grandparents. I hope that someday when they're older, my kids will have a built-in pen pal with their cousin too... pen pals are still a thing, right? Maybe they'll be visiting each other in hologram form by then haha! Either way, this baby girl is already loved so much.
